Сейчас стоит система Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 64 bit, на старой хрюше было все нормально.
После установки угры и запуска у меня появляется сообщение:

2. Under Sound click Manage Audio Devices
3. Right click on the item that has a check mark next to it and click properties
4. Select the Advanced tab
5. Set the default playback format to 24 bit 48000Hz which is Studio Quality on the drop down list
