Amarok (прежнее название — amaroK) — программа для проигрывания аудиофайлов для Linux и других Unix-подобных операционных систем, хотя ожидается что вторая версия Amarok будет работать и под другими операционными системами, в том числе и Windows. Для своей работы использует KDE (kdelibs), однако официально не входит ни в один из компонентов KDE и выпускается независимо от него. Несколько раз завоёвывал «награды» в качестве самого популярного аудиоплеера Linux-систем.

Несмотря на то, что Amarok использует изображения волка и имеет название, схожее с гигантским волком в Эскимосской мифологии (Amarok или Amarog), плеер был назван по альбому Amarok Майка Олдфилда. Первый логотип программы был сделан в виде волка, но он был очень похож на эмблему WaRP Graphics. Позднее логотип Amarok менялся несколько раз и теперь он не нарушает никакие авторские права.

Сначала плеер имел название amaroK с заглавной буквой «K», которую так любят разработчики KDE. В июне 2006 года он был переименован в Amarok после интенсивной дискуссии на конференции KDE, K3M, в мае того же года.

Второй бета-релиз новой версии открытого аудиоплейра для KDE — amaroK 1.3 beta2.
Среди изменений в amaroK 1.3 beta2:
— у нового движка Helix появилась поддержка визуализаций;
— добавлен менеджер очередей;
— улучшения в функциональности Smart Playlist;
— скрипты теперь могут добавлять элементы в контекстное меню плей-листа;
— у фильтра плей-листа расширена возможность поиска (введен синтаксис в стиле Google);
— оптимизации и многочисленные исправления.

- обложка сама скачивается каждые 80 дней с amazon.com, чтобы обойти ограничения, накладываемые этим магазином.

"Дышащая краской" версия 1.3.5 будет с особым чувством встречена обладателями систем на процессорах с поддержкой HyperThreading - все имевшие место проблемы канули в лету. Релиз вообще посвящён исправлению ошибок и недочётов - стабильность, стабильность... Акция по сбору средств в поддержку amaroK продолжается - на сегодня собрано 60% от так необходимых к 1 ноября 5 тыс. долларов. Разработчики, между тем, объявили о начале работы над 1.4 и обещают удивить нас новыми возможностями своего детища. Стало известно и о планах по интеграции приложения в Qt4 и KDE 4, так что проект продолжает свой стремительный взлёт...

Разработчики одного из самых популярных музыкальных проигрывателей сообщают о третьем бета-релизе новой версии своего продукта — amaroK 1.4-beta3 (под кодовым названием «Fast Forward»).
Как заявлено на официальном сайте amaroK, beta3 — самая стабильная на данный момент редакция новой версии. Среди новых возможностей и изменений в amaroK 1.4:
° amaroK теперь поддерживает различные форматы плейлистов формата XML (таких, как XSPF и SMIL).
° Метаданные Ogg/Vorbis теперь отображаются и при использовании движка Xine.
° Файловый браузер получил кнопку для перехода в каталог, из которого воспроизводится текущий трек.
° Плейер использует собственные иконки. (Если у вас есть желание как-то помочь художникам, то предлагается писать на [email protected].)
° Проведена значительная работа в поддержке подкастов (podcast).
° Улучшена работа эквалайзера и движка проигрывателя, что должно помочь снизить нагрузку на системы в целом.
° В amaroK версии 1.4 для воспроизведения музыки используется только xine, Helix, GStreamer-0.10 и NMM.

Вышла финальная версия amaroK-1.4.0.

Что нового:
- подержка тегов в файлах WMA, MP4/AAC, и RealMedia (RA, RV, RM);
- проигрывание без пауз (только через xine);
- работа с переносными проигрывателями (iPod, iRiver/ifp и разные стандартные устройства);
- Moodbar (визуальное представление песен, бесполезная, но забавная штука);
- для поиска тесктов песен теперь используются скрипты на Ruby => тексты можно выковырять с любого сайта.

Ложка дёгтя: из этой версии убрали проигрывание через GStreamer, т. к. оно всё равно глючило и не работало. Но обещали когда-нибудь вернуть.

Команда разработчиков Amarok официально объявила о выходе в свет новой версии под номером 1.4.5.

Из изменений стоит выделить:
* Интегрирован список станций Shoutcast
* Добавлена поддержка меток файлов (наподобие тегов в Last.FM)
* Менеджер докачки с Magnatune
* Улучшено качество звука при использовании эквалайзера и движка Xine
* Добавлен графический редактор фильтров
* Множество исправлений и улучшений.

Также, с выходом версии 1.4.5 команда разработчиков начала активную работу над веткой 2.0 (основанной на Qt 4).

Changes
Optimize some database queries with the MySQL backend. Patch by Alf Eaton
Don't show the device plugin dialog when a new device is plugged in. Apparently it's not obvious that you have to hit OK after selecting "Do not handle" if you don't want it handled, so disabling it prevents it from being shown repeatedly.
Better support for iPhone/iPod Touch mounted via fuse/sshfs (libgpod 0.6.0 or newer required).
Only re-render the context view when visible if changing ratings, scores or labels for songs.
Bugfixes
Last.fm metadata would not update with xine 1.1.8. (BR 150429)
Amarok would forget podcast channel and episode settings when using the PostgreSQL backend.

Началось бета тестирование мультимедиа плеера Amarok 2.1. По словам разработчиков выпуск 2.1 побил рекорд по числу изменений в релизах Amarok: представлено 33 новшества, 27 улучшений и 32 исправления ошибок.
Кратко:

• можно назначить отдельные уровнки громкости для каждой пести или альбома (ReplayGain). Amarok теперь умеет считывать тэги replaygain практически из любого аудиоформата;
• теперь настраивать вид списка воспроизведения можно посредством мощного, но в то же время, простого в использовании редактора;
• Плазмоид “Сейчас играет” теперь показывает как текущий трек, так и список любимых дорожек;
• Сервис Last.FM в Амароке был переписан с нуля, и теперь Амарок может похвастать одним из самых мощных last.fm-плагинов (обгоняя по возможностям даже официальный клиент): можно слушать все виды треков (со скриншота) и без оплаченного аккаунта, в том числе радио “Мои Рекомендации” и “Мои Радиостанции”;
• Плазмоиды всё также размещаются в центральной области приложения, но теперь они разбиты не на четыре отдельных секции, а размещаются в одной колонке и могут быть переключены/выбраны с помощью нового таскбара внизу главного окна;
• При выборе конкретного сервиса, например jamendo, сервисный плазмоид соединится с сайтом jamendo и заберёт всю доступную в онлайн информацию;
• Можно добавлять в “Любимые” любой трек, не применительно только к last.fm;
• Amarok теперь может загружать и создавать Амарок-ссылки (Amarok urls), что позволяет добавить в закладки, для последующего воспроизведения, любое “состояние” (вид) плеера;
• В транк уже добавлена функция для автоматического сохранения позиции воспроизводимой аудиокниги или подкаста;
• Теперь, чтобы изменить конфигурацию Phonon — например, выбрать звуковую карту из списка доступных, подправить ей пару параметров — не придётся открывать “Настройки системы”. Всё можно сделать прямо из Амарока.

Версия 2.0 была стартовой точкой для всей ветки 2.x и предоставила много новых идей, но в ней отсутствовали многие возможности, столь полюбившиеся многим пользователям в предыдущих версиях Amarok'а. С выпуском же Amarok 2.1 разработчики не только начинают заполнять этот пробел, но и представляют целый ряд новых и уникальных возможностей, которые сделают прослушивание музыки ещё прекраснее.

Основные изменения:

• Новый, переработанный внешний вид;
• Возможность скрытия левой и центральной панели, а также поддержка ручного определения шаблона плейлиста, в котором можно указать какие из полей отображать, в каком порядке и каким шрифтом. Доступен как альбомный, так и трековый режим отображения списка воспроизведения;
• Amarok URL - возможность сохранения и обмена ссылками на определенные ресурсы и состояния проигрывателя;
• Поддержка установки закладок, причем не только на композиции, но и на заданную позицию в музыкальном файле, что особенно удобно при прослушивании аудиокниг. Закладки поддерживают два режима работы - автоматический и ручной, при автоматическом режиме при повторном обращении к файлу воспроизведение начинается с позиции, на которой было остановлено прослушивание в прошлый раз;
• Добавлено отображение текущей активности, при сворачивании программы в трей;
• Новое оформление блока Context View, апплеты в котором теперь не разделены на страницы, а представлены в виде единого вертикального столбца, содержимое которого реогранизуется через управляющий виджет в нижней части;
• Возможность составления очереди воспроизведения, как это было сделано в Amarok 1.4;
• Поддержка технологии Replay Gain для автоматического выравнивания уровня громкости в разных аудиофайлах;
• Полностью переработанный плагин для работы с сервисом Last.FM, с которым можно работать без заведения аккаунта;
• Интегрирован блок для настройки системных параметров, связанных со звуком;

Было исправлено около 30 ошибок и реализовано несколько новшеств, направленных на улучшение удобства пользовательского интерфейса.

Из новшеств можно отметить:

• Добавлена система определяемых пользователем меток (Custom Labels);
• Поддержка Moodbar, позволяющего визуально выделять элементы в проигрываемой композиции в строке прогресса исполнения произведения. Например, цвет полосок в строке воспроизведения может быть привязан к частотным характеристикам.
• Данные о расцветке сохраняются в специальных .mood файлах, которые требуется сгенерировать отдельно;
• Упрощение процесса редактирования текстов песен (лирики), для внесения изменений или исправлении ошибки достаточно кликнуть на аплет лирики, нажать F2 и внести правки;
• В настройках появилась возможность изменения шрифтового оформления. Вызов редактора оформления плейлиста перемещен в меню Инструменты ("Tools"). Более наглядным сделан идикатор режима случайного или повторяющегося воспроизведения;
• Значительно улучшен код работы с подкастами. Добавлена возможность отображения HTML инфомрации для поддерживающих данный формат представления подкастов, добавлены средства импорта списка подписки на подкасты из OPML, уменьшено потребление памяти через установки ограничения, допускающих одновременную загрузку максимум 4 подкастов. Улучшен интерфейс группировки подкастов, добавлена возможность автоматической загрузки логотипов для каждого элемента подписки. Ранее загруженные файлы теперь не загружаются повторно и удалить скаченные данные можно в момент отмены подписки на подкаст;
• По умолчанию отключено автоматическое определение кодировки в тегах, в связи с поступлением многочисленных жалоб на некорректную перекодировку нормальных UTF-8 тегов. Включить автоматическую перекодировку можно через настройки в меню "Settings->Collection";
• Повышены минимальные зависимости, отныне для работы Amarok необходимо наличие KDE 4.3.x и Qt 4.5.

• Началось возвращение в Amarok 2 такой возможности Amarok 1.4, как "умные" плейлисты (smart playlist), автоматически формируемые на основании определенных критериев. Добавлен автоматизированный генератор списков воспроизведения, который позволяет создавать плейлисты на основании выборки композиций из общей коллекции на основании таких параметров, как размер файла или длительность композиции.
• Для режима контекстного просмотра (Context View) подготовлены два новых апплета:
  • Upcoming Events (предстоящие события) - отображает расписание концертов и обзор событий, связанных с прослушиваемым в текущий момент автором;
  • Similar Artists (похожие музыканты) - на основании данных из Last.fm показывает список похожих музыкантов и дает возможность проиграть их композиции, имеющиеся в локальной коллекции;
• При закрытии Amarok теперь сохраняется состояние очереди воспроизведения, которое полностью восстанавливается при последующем запуске;
• Улучшен код загрузки обложек музыкальных альбомов: улучшен интерфейс пользователя, результаты выборки теперь отображаются в виде набора пиктограмм; добавлена поддержка формирования собственных поисковых запросов через Yahoo!, Google и Discogs, при этом обложки по прежнему могут быть загружены только с Last.Fm;
• Появилась возможность группировки элементов плейлиста на основании принадлежности композиций разным директориям на диске;
• Добавлена поддержка нового протокола для взаимодействия с областью уведомлений, реализованного в KDE SC 4.4. На пиктограмму в трее добавлена анимация, улучшен внешний вид всплывающего меню;
• В расширяющих функциональность Amarok скриптах теперь можно использовать новые функции для определения факта завершения трека;
• Добавлена возможность пометки разом сразу всех эпизодов в канале как устаревших или новых.

В диалог управления коллекцией (Organize Collection) добавлена функция предварительного просмотра;
В апплет для работы с альбомами добавлена поддержка фильтрации вывода;
В апплете для просмотра текстов песен добавлена возможность изменения типа выравнивания текста;
При отображении директории подкастов теперь показываются наиболее популярные в сервисе gpodder.net теги, а также список лучших подкастов, соответствующих этим тегам.
