В последнее время все популярные интернет-пейджеры становятся все более непривлекательными для простого пользователя. ICQ и Odigo пестрят рекламой, а Trillian стал платным. Никому не хочется пользоваться программой, которая насыщена баннерами или требует денег за регистрацию. Miranda - это реальный выход из сложившейся ситуации. Среди ее особенностей можно отметить простоту, небольшие размеры (как дистрибутива, так и в оперативной памяти) и поддержку скинов и плагинов. На последнем пункте, пожалуй, стоит остановиться поподробнее. Так как Miranda - это продукт с открытым исходным кодом, разработать плагин для нее может практически любой программист. Дополнений к программе существует огромное количество на любой вкус и цвет. Среди плагинов попадаются очень полезные - автоматическая проверка почты, проверка выхода новой версии, всплывающие полупрозрачные окна, появляющиеся при определенных событиях и т. д.
