Following the recently added support for .SDLXLIFF files in Language Cloud, Trados Studio now also enables you to use .SDLXLIFFs as source files for your cloud projects.
This enhancement also makes it possible for you to use pre-translated SDLXLIFF files from existing local projects or project packages in cloud projects. You may want to do this if you have pre-translated .SDLXLIFF files that you want to review and finalize in a cloud workflow or simply store on your cloud account. For instance, converting pre-processed .SDLXLIFFs to cloud projects can be useful for accessing the extended review capabilities available in the Online Editor.
Working with .SDLXLIFFs as source files has some by-design limitations whenever a native file is required during verification or in the Generate Target Translation (cloud projects) batch task. This is because these options require access to the original native source file under certain circumstances. For generating the translated target file in the original format, use the Export Files batch task with the "Native Target Files" option instead.
For more information, see Move .SDLXLIFF files to the cloud in the online Help.
Cloud projects now support .ZIP archivesIn the Language Cloud Translation Management offering, we recently introduced support for cloud projects that are created using compressed project files (.ZIP files). This option is available for cloud accounts with access to the Customer Portal.
To support this enhancement, we have added the required infrastructure to enable you to download such cloud projects from Trados Studio as well. Currently, the folder hierarchy of the .ZIP file is converted to a flat structure in the Files view. In addition, projects that include more than one file with the same name in the .ZIP folder cannot be downloaded in Trados Studio. These two limitations will be solved with a future Trados Studio cumulative update.
Full support for custom placeables in cloud TMsThe Studio 2021 release has introduced support for customizing the formats of placeables in local and server-based TMs. Placeables, also called recognized tokens, are patterns that Trados Studio identifies as dates, times, numbers, measurements or currency amounts. With this CU, we extend this support to also cover cloud TMs. This means that Trados Studio now also identifies and auto-localizes placeables in cloud TMs according to the custom formats available in the Language Processing Rule of the TM.
Option to release cloud task from Trados Studio
If you are on Trados Live Essential, released tasks are automatically reassigned to you, as you are the only user in your cloud account.
In other flows (within the context of Trados Live Team or translation Management), if you change your mind about working on a cloud project task that you have accepted, you can release it to set its status back to Pending and make it available to the default assignees. This option was previously available only from a browser, but you can now also find it in Trados Studio under Files view > Home tab > Cloud Projects group > Release Task.
Option to download multiple cloud projects at the same timeYou can now simultaneously download a selection of projects available on your cloud account. After selecting the cloud projects in the Projects view, click the Download Cloud Projects option from the Home tab, or from the context menu. This makes all the selected projects available locally so that you can work with them from Trados Studio.
New filter for custom type projects
The Projects view includes a new dynamic filter that refines the list of projects to show only projects created in third-party applications. For each type of third-party project available in the list, the Type drop-down is populated with a corresponding filtering option. For example LingoTek Projects, MultiTrans projects. To work with such projects in Trados Studio, first install the relevant plug-in from the Add-ins tab > SDL AppStore. Offline cloud project packages and TMS packages are considered standard projects. Currently, custom projects are also filtered under the Standard projects filter so you can find them easily without having to first select the corresponding filter.
Allow source editing for cloud projects filesYou can now update the source text for cloud projects that you create from Trados Studio. Updating the source text segments for cloud projects was previously only possible for projects created from a browser. This CU enhances the New Cloud Project wizard with an option to Allow source editing.
Language Cloud Terminology is now Trados Live TerminologyWe have rebranded our online terminology management solution to better align it with our other Trados Live cloud offerings. When working from your browser, you will now see references to the new name in the online user interface. In Studio, we are now referring to adding cloud-based terminology to local projects more generically without making references to the new brand name. Existing terminology subscriptions remain valid and are not impacted by this name change.
